Growing Up
53A Change of Pace
In this seemingly small world that we live in, we all go through so many decisions in life. At 22, I was given a great opportunity, but was unaware of the road I would be traveling. We all learn that we make our own paths, so I did. I traveled the 800 mile drive from Indianapolis, IN to Havelock, NC. Now when you sit and think about it, that is not that far away. It truly does give you a different atmosphere though. I have moved from this medium sized city, to pretty much nothing. Havelock is a very small town that thrives off of the Cherry Point Marine Base. American pride is in every small shop there is. As for me, I am getting a taste of not only being by away from everything I know, but also a taste of military life. I moved down here for a friend. Her husband has just recently deployed, so I thought she would enjoy the company. Instead of just giving company though, I am in the middle of a whole new world down here. You all of a sudden pay attention to the little stickers in car window, the ones that give you access on base. You also pay attention to anyone who wears a certain number of ribbons on the uniform. It is no longer a simple civilian vs. military. Now you add in what rank do you hold and can you cost me my job! You stop for anyone wearing a uniform and you learn to truly give a whole new respect for everyone fighting for you. I have always been one to support our troops, but I don't think I ever fully grasped what all they go through. Almost all of my friends and family are in the military, it surrounds my life. I always hear stories and knew the basics of what they did. I never really got it though. My eyes have been opened, and I am thankful to be down here and welcomed among these amazing people. Life sure is different down here. As we await for the future of tomorrow, we embark on the journey of today. We know nothing in store for us, but for as much that has changed so far, I await the future. Life it remarkable and ever-changing. God bless our troops!

Yay! You support me! Haha! It is a different world out there and I wish more people would realize the things these troops go through. Nice start to this blog. I can't wait for more!
